Yosemite is my favorite place on Earth. I haven’t been everywhere, and I have yet to explore Yosemite to its fullest, but I am still certain of it. This was a Yosemite Couple Session. I’ve been to Yosemite TWICE and both times were pretty incredible experiences. Last time I went for a styled elopement, you can see that here! Skyler and Rachel were heading there for the weekend and asked me to join and photograph their adventures. I said no. Hahaha just kidding, heck yeah I went. I went with the fullest heart.
Our Yosemite Adventure
The first day was incredible. We headed to a lake that was dried up (we didn’t actually know that was the case until we got there). The lake was sandy and people sun bathed on it, it was perfect. Later, we ended up in this forest area with an actual running lake. We got lost and decided to explore more. Also, to add to the beauty, to cross the lake we had to walk over a fallen tree trunk, it was insanely beautiful. It was a day filled with exploration and outdoor photography. I was in love. At one point in our adventure, it rained then cleared up a few minutes later. Yosemite gives some ridiculously perfect days.
That same day, we got back to our tent cabin, checked in, and prepared to head back out to eat, drink hot chocolate, and watch the milky way. Pretty insane that I got to join in on this and photograph it all.
Some hiking was involved…
The next day we hiked the 4.8 miles up to Glacier Point, then hiked down. Next time, I will simply drive. I love nature and photographing outdoors, ESPECIALLY when there’s a couple as my main subjects but… I can’t do hiking. 5 miles seems simple, but imagine it on a slope, 3200ft elevation compressed in only 4.8 miles. It was beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But oh my goodness… Enough of that. It was stressful to say the least hahaha, regardless of that I got some beautiful shots of my badass couple hiking. I made it to the top and made it down alive, no clue how but it happened!
After our hike we wanted to do s’mores and a fire but because of how exhausted we were, we went straight to the car and drove back to Los Angeles. It was dark, we were cold, we were so so tired. Crazy end to our outdoor Yosemite adventure.
Yosemite Couple Session Photography
I love photographing in Yosemite. It’s the kind of place that you just want to stay in forever, like a fairytale away from real life. How a place like this exists is pretty freaking incredible you guys.
There are waterfalls, forests, lakes, deer, you freaking name it, it’s there. There are mountains and stunning rock formations, every type of beautiful natural thing is in one place. I want to photograph another couple there, again and again and again. In different areas, in different outfits? In, preferably, not the crazy hikes. Let’s have a Yosemite Couple Session, or Elopement anyone? I enjoy photographing things you were going to do anyway. Your heart is into it, and you don’t feel the need to pose. That’s the best, where you trust me fully to do my thing on my end while you do your thing.
Next time, I want to experience its beauty in the snow. If you haven’t been please go, and take me with you. In the meantime, enjoy these photos of Skyler and Rachel in Yosemite National Park hiking, climbing rocks, laughing, resting, and crossing lakes while I photographed them.
Do you wanna go to Yosemite too? Maybe do your engagement session there? Or better, a whole trash the dress shoot?! Yeah, I think we should, let’s do it!
