I’ve photographed these babes a few times and this time it was for their one year anniversary! Rachel reached out to book a little ahead of time and said she trusted me to find the perfect location. She wanted something different, so I went scouting and I found it! I drove up and down the coast several times before stopping here. Then I messaged her and told her I found THE place. I was so freaking excited and so was she!! Trust is everything to me.
Engagement Session Locations Near You
Scouting is when I literally go on google maps, search for wilderness parks, recreational areas, locations on the coast, etc. all around me, and then go to each place in person to see what it actually looks and feels like. Then I photograph the place without a couple, usually get there during the day and stay for sunset.
For this particular Palos Verdes couple session location, I actually had mapped another place around a mile or two away from this one. Went to it, and did not like it very much… or at all really. Then I figured I’m on the coast, there MUST be something around here that I will love. So I kept driving up and down stopping in every area I could stop. Literally drove up and down at least 3 times both ways because I missed a few locations every time. Then I stopped in this one AND FELL IN LOVE. It was perfect.
I love scouting and looking for new places to shoot because it gives me some time to connect with a location before I bring my couple to it. This also gives me a list of different places I can recommend when my humans want a specific type of landscape.
I need to go out and do that again!! LA seems very boring, but there are so many hidden gems that I’ve found around this area that are at most 2hrs away. Variety is the key and different landscapes are the gold. Also, who doesn’t want a cool and unique engagement session location near them?! I try and dedicate 2-3 days to scouting every month. Hellllooo new adventures.
I of course don’t get paid for this part of my job. It’s my own gas, my own time, my own day! But, in the end it helps me give my couples the experience they deserve. Everyone these days likes to shoot in the same places over and over again, I want to break that mold. I want you to have something different, something that feels right and unique to you and your love. That’s the goal here! And, if the engagement session location is near you, well then that’s just two birds with a stone… or the saying that goes something like that.
Two Outfits Hit the Spot in this Palos Verdes Couple Session
If you’ve seen my other sessions, you’ll notice most of my babes wear two outfits for their shoot. I love that. My goal is to find locations with multiple different things goin’ on, so you can wear an outfit for each “part” of the location, and add variety to the shoot. I ask my couples to bring a casual outfit and then something a little fancier or formal. These two nailed it. We hung out above with the wildflowers in their casual outfits and then headed to the rocky beach down below in their more fancy attires.
Alright, I’m done writing your ear (or eyes) off, now scroll and let your eyeballs enjoy these gorgeous humans in this perfect place celebrating their one year anniversary!
Alright, so should I start scouting your new location for our engagement session or anniversary?? Heck yeah I’d love to, talk to me and let’s do this!!
